A wired network uses cables to connect devices, such as laptop or desktop computers, to the Internet or another network.

A wireless network allows devices to stay connected to the network but roam untethered to any wires. Access points amplify Wi-Fi signals, so a device can be far from a router but still be connected to the network.

Fiber optic network design refers to the specialized processes leading to a successful installation and operation of a fiber optic network. It includes first determining the type of communication system(s) which will be carried over the network, the geographic layout (premises, campus, outside plant (OSP, etc.), the transmission equipment required and the fiber network over which it will operate.   Wi-Fi is a local area wireless technology. It allows an electronic device to transfer data or connect to the internet using ISM radio bands. It is an underlying technology of wireless local area network (WLAN). Wi-Fi allows computers and other devices to communicate over a wireless network.
